Shutter Speed

This was my first venture in shop shutter painting and what a place to start . The Desolate Streets of South Moor........... ( nah seriously im a moor lad born and bread and will always love the place even though its now worse than Mos Esley space port on a bad day )

So anyway heres how it came about a good friend Kelly Matthews of mine has a nice little photography business Kelly Matthews Photography  ( you would never guess the name would you hahahah )
and she wanted to bring a bit of a sparkle to the shop front, Dropped me a line and i came up with this

so we ran it by the local council to be told that apparently you need an advertising license to advertise your own business on your own shutters ( strange ) but they were quite happy to let me do it if i removed the KMP from the image. So if your after the shutters of your business painting please keep that fact in mind or buy a license from the council ( I cant say what i think at this point )

Anyway it was all go so heres the pics.

The job itself was pretty straight forward and took about 10 hrs to do over 2 days, it was a good laugh doing it met some great locals who wanted to shake my hand for some strange reason and a lot of youngsters who thought i was doing it without permission. All in all was a great job to do and it has made South Moor just a little bit more pleasing to the eye

And if you do fancy a nice family photograph or any photography services i can highly recommend Kelly's skills to you and your family and friends

Oh and im about to give the Interior of her studio a little bit of sparkle also

Darth Ernest

Well its not every day that you get to paint a 20' high Sith Lord on a gable end of a Cafe/Bar in the middle of Newcastle's Art District that is Ouseburn
But thanks to the eagle eyes of some dear friends thats exactly what i ended up doing.

It really started out as a giggle but became reality after the great north east weather destroyed a Morley poster that the man himself pasted on to the side of Ernest in Ouseburn

After seeing a post via the powers of Facebook i commented on the picture that was asking for ideas for new artwork for the side of the building.
So i did what everyone always does and had a bit nose around the Ernest facebook page only to discover that there's a bit of a star wars thing going down on one of the walls inside and been a bit of a fan myself i though hang on a moment.

It's a strange thing when all of a sudden out of the blue everything falls in to place and this was one of those moments for sure ( For me anyway )

So one windy Thursday morning praying it wouldn't rain there i am at 1 Boyd Street, NE2 1AP that has a fresh painted wall putting up a scaffold armed with a host of painting implements and an A4 sketch hanging on for dear life and loving every second of it

Impresive. Most Impressive

All i can say is it was a total pleasure to be able to do this on such a great venue and if you are down that way make sure you call in and sample the delight that is Ernest and if your a Darth Vader fan then get your picture took standing with the Mighty Sith Lord serving drinks before he gets a makeover he may not be there for ever but the force will always be strong at Ernest

Thanks To Gavin Marshall and all the crew down At Ernest

So now its back to shop shutters and yet more wall murals for me feel free to fly by Custom Artwerk and have a nose at other stuff im up to or you can wait for the next Blog
